Choosing the best archive/unarchive app for Mac Now, these are just some reasons why you need third-party macOS apps for archiving and unarchiving files. As we said earlier, sometimes, you need a tougher compression even if it takes time. And, what’s more, you can’t even think of changing the compression ratios. By default, it becomes an Archive.zip file.

You can’t even change the format of the archive. While Archive Utility integrates so well with macOS, it does not offer any kind of control. It’s just not enough for people who need a bit more control over the compression process. We are not saying that the native Archive Utility is bad. You want to squeeze it so tight that you want to save as much space as possible. However, there are times when you have to really compress files, you know. Move the compression file to your Desktop, where you can read and write files stored there. Expanding a folder in a server folder may cause this error if you only have access to read the folder. If you know you have permission to open the zip file, try moving it to another folder. The original user who compressed the file must give you the necessary permission to unzip the file. You likely don’t have access if you received an error message that said “Permission Denied” when trying to expand a file. Unable to Expand Zip File on a Mac-Permission Denied

If there are too many folders to clear out manually, you should invest in a program that will clear these files automatically. Many of these programs can all be set to clear the cache routinely, which can help avoid future errors. Once these files are cleared out, the file should expand. Please do not delete the folder, as it could cause app errors. You need to click into each folder and delete the files there.
